
NAGATA SHACHU, based in TORONTO, has performed across Canada, Italy, Tennessee, Colorado and in January for the first time, New York City. Since its formation in 1998, the ensemble has produced three annual concerts focusing on the presentation of new works. Their final concert for 2015 took place in November.
But there are two upcoming spring concerts in TORONTO – April 2/2016 in the Brigantine Room at Harbourfront Centre Nagata Shachu will perform with the Torq Percussion Quartet; and on June 4 at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre the group will collaborate with Japanese bamboo flute master Jiro Murayama.

For those interested in Taiko drumming, courses are given at Nagata Shachu’s studio, 112 Hymus Road, a short walk from the Warden subway station. 2-hour Beginners Workshop on January 18/2016 at 7pm; a Beginners Taiko Course, 10 weeks, 90 minutes per class, from January 25/2016.
