The 57-metre-long bridge weighs 340 metric tonnes and traveled from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, through the St. Lawrence Seaway to Lake Ontario before reaching Toronto.
City councillor Paula Fletcher said “What a beautiful, beautiful bridge it is. . . . It’s going to be transformational for our waterfront.” The journey took 8.5 days to pass by 1,250-nautical miles and four Canadian provinces. There’ll be three more bridges coming.
Waterfront Toronto said in a media advisory on Nov. 6th that they’ll connect people to Villiers Island. A kilometre-long extension of the Don River through the Port Lands will make this possible. – <PHOTOS – Ontario Construction & Waterfront Toronto>
