The late MARY PRATT, a Newfoundlander, once said: “Of all the paintings I’ve done, I think I like this one best. My first grandchild in her first bath. Secure against her mother’s arm . . . Curiosity overcoming fear. A promising child.” – <‘Child With Two Adults’, 1983, Mary Pratt>
Ms. Pratt’s choice of subject matter often centered on the kitchen and food of one kind or another. They became extraordinary works of colour and beauty. Many of them were totally mouth watering. <PHOTO ABOVE – a postage stamp featuring Mary Pratt’s “Jelly Shelf”, 1999>.
