THE ONTARIO COLLEGE OF ART & DESIGN HAS OPENED A SMART NEW DOWNTOWN GALLERY

The ONSITE GALLERY is the flagship exhibition space out of OCAD University’s nine galleries. The University’s significant permanent collection of art and design will be housed and shown here, along with contemporary art and new media from outside.

<‘SOUND SUIT’, 2011, mixed media, NICK CAVE>

‘The Sunshine Eaters’, until April 15/2018, is a multi-sensory exhibition that highlights how artists find hope in plants, flowers and trees in the face of local and global crises. We have plenty of those these days.

“It is that plant we have all seen, growing through a sidewalk crack, determined to live, to reach up and eat some sunshine.”

<‘BAD PICKNEY’, 2013, from the Fambily series, by EBONY G. PATTERSON>

<‘THE REJECTION OF PLUTO’, 2008, porcelain, mirror, LED lights, by SHARY BOYLE>

<‘TRICK OR TREAT’, 2014, still from the National Film Board of Canada video by ALANIS OBOMSAWIN>
