The City of TORONTO and federal and provincial governments are pouring a fortune into the revitalization of Union Station. Peeling paint, cracked, damaged floors, leaky roofs and tired-looking concourses are gone, being replaced by a retail concourse, new restaurants, an improved PATH connection, an increase in the number of entrances and restored heritage elements.
Suburban GO concourses are being expanded threefold, a tunnel will connect the station to the Air Canada Centre, Maple Leaf Square and Union Plaza, and deep-lake-water cooling and other energy-efficient technologies are all part of the rebuild.
