The WATERFRONT TRAIL is a vast interconnected network of bike and walking trails along the shores of Lake Ontario. As a lasting legacy, TORONTO’s Pan Am Parapan Am Games have created a connector network – the PAN AM PATH – linking TORONTO, its ravines and Martin Goodman Trail, to communities around the Lake.
The Waterfront Trail’s Queens Quay West section with its bike lanes, walking paths, parks and gardens, segregated streetcar and traffic lanes, has just opened. Torontonians of all ages were out in droves on the weekend sampling the new arrival. You can cycle and walk forever, and then some. Some Facts and Figures – 2.3-million paving stones laid by hand on the promenade; 74,156 trees on the north and south sides of Queens Quay; $65.2-million the city’s contribution to the project; 1.7 kilometres the total length of the revitalized street.
