REGENT PARK’S BRAND NEW MURALS @ ENTRYWAY TO CENTRAL PARK – BEFORE THE TAGGERS ARRIVED

REGENTPARK3Full disclosure: the taggers had already arrived, but I was able to shoot around their spritzes. This kind of vandalism is a plague in many cities it seems. Fortunately, the Regent Park murals have a protective coating of some kind, which means they can eventually be de-tagged. I don’t understand why young people do this – it’s useless, nasty and dirty, and costs the city & property owners a fortune in cleanups.

  1. I don’t think the issue is addressed appropriately by officials. It should be discouraged with workshops or assemblies in schools and other means of broadcastKng the message that it’s unacceptable and why!

  2. As a Toronto artist I didn’t see any calls for artists for these. Personally I think these are hideous and I’m not surprised at the tagging. The street will fight back.
