Trundling down the middle of SAN FRANCISCO’S Embarcadero and Market Street, separated from traffic lanes, is a flotilla of elderly streetcars, restored inside and out, and painted in their original colours. <PHOTO ABOVE – cars from Milan and Detroit>
Among them, #1074, in its signature maroon and yellow, a retired TORONTO Transit Commission car, is being put to good use on the lengthy Embarcadero, Market Street and Castro ‘F’ line. It joins other old timers from Los Angeles, Milan, Detroit, Chicago, Newark, Louisville, Boston, Brooklyn, and the City by the Bay itself.
