In a city as young as TORONTO, the Royal Canadian Military Institute is a venerable institution. Founded in 1890, this private organization was created to provide the defence forces of Canada with a library, museum and club devoted to military art, science and literature. For over a century the RCMI has gathered and preserved records of the defence forces, and promoted their valiant history, primarily in the century-old building above – PHOTO – http://www.torontohistory.org
And now, the RCMI is about to move into a new building – ‘The Residences of the RCMI’, 426 University Avenue. The facade of the old building is being incorporated into the ground floor of the skyscraper, scheduled for completion in 2014.
A cornerstone was laid by His Excellency the Right Honourable DAVID JOHNSTON, Governor-General of Canada and Commander-in-Chief, on June 9/2012.
Selling price for apartments in the tower begin at $418,000. The building offers spectacular views of downtown TORONTO. PHOTO BELOW – Jack Landau, http://www.urbantoronto.ca
