Wednesday, April 2 was moving day for a 26-foot-tall, 34,000-pound sculpture of Hollywood glamour goddess MARILYN MONROE. It has towered over downtown PALM SPRINGS for the past two years. “Forever Marilyn” was very much a part of the city, and already people are missing her. She was a must-see tourist attraction. Next stop for Marilyn: HAMILTON, New Jersey.
The huge sculpture, created by artist J. Seward Johnson depicts Marilyn’s famous pose in the 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch”. She stood over a New York City subway grate, and used her hands to keep her dress from blowing up over her head. It’s an unforgettable iconic movie moment.
