2 o’clock in the morning: a flotilla of snowplows cleans up the 401
Highway 401 crosses our city from east to west. It’s one of the busiest – and widest – expressways in North America. To clear 16 lanes of snow before the morning rush hour, the Department of Highways brings out its snowplow flotilla. Plows travel in formation 8 lanes east, and then 8 lanes west. It works.
