Detroit has had a rough time of it, and the troubles aren’t over yet. But some of its suburbs are gorgeous, it has one of the best art museums in North America, and a stash of deco architecture that needs some love. The most hopeful sign is the influx of young people to the core. We can only hope.

I totally think Detroit, much like Glasgow, Manchester and Berlin, in ten years or so is going to be a cultural hot bed! It seems cheap, post industrial cities always reinvent themselves this way.

Thank you for checking out the site. No – I didn’t hire a designer. I had another layout, but it wasn’t adaptable to various screen dimensions. I clicked on this one, and it filled the bill. Now I’m busy transfering some of my earlier posts to this new format. It’s not that difficult now that I’m getting used to the layout. DAVE

First off I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick
question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I’ve had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out
there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost
just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any recommendations or hints? Cheers!

Absolutely! Although flying jets in and out of Billy Bishop may cause problems for the neighbours. (I’m sure Porter is anticipating that.) Porter service has been exemplary up to now.
