A year ago this month, 500-600 workers per day were involved in some way with ‘Total Recall’, a remake of the 1990′s Arnold Schwartzenegger sci fi action hit. After six months of filming on TORONTO streets and in studio, the production left behind one very happy city – hotels, rental car agencies, yoga studios, catering services, carpenters, police on overtime, a huge Canadian technical crew, and the giant waterfront Pinewood studio complex – all benefited.

PINEWOOD STUDIOS on TORONTO’s waterfront, boasts the largest soundstage in North America. Its measurements: 250 feet long, 180 feet wide, 60 feet tall, for a total area of 45,900 square feet (4,264 square metres). A dark, futuristic set of styrofoam, brick and steel was constructed here for ‘Total Recall’ – the most elaborate set design ever built in this city. 300 carpenters worked on it. <PHOTOS – http://www/quadrangle.ca>
